Vice VersaLive PerformanceIn this set-up we combine two transformations. Music is transformed into video, manipulated and projected onto a screen: rhythmic white stripes migrate across the screen, depending on the sound in shape and speed. The video image is then recaptured live and re-transformed into sound again. The literally “reproduced” music is still recognizable but bears new qualities. With this acoustic-visual feedback the physical states of music are changed in real-time and brought to ears and eyes. Manipulation of the video signal involves strobe and layering and also focusing and zooming with a camera. We use either selected music as acoustic source or work together with live musicians who then additionally react on and control the visual feedback. |
